The Emerald Ash Borer was found in the state of Iowa in many
locations. As of now, there are no confirmed cases of the EAB in Mason City.
Homeowners with ash trees on their private property are
encouraged to begin research on your options. The homeowner should consider
researching the methods of treating ash trees every year or getting estimates
for the removal of ash trees from licensed tree services. If you choose to do
nothing with your ash tree and the EAB infests the tree, the tree will die as
the EAB attacks it.
If you suspect you may have a tree infested with EAB, please
contact the City’s Street Division at (641) 421-3675 or (641) 420-1999.
The City has also set up a list of professional tree
services that are able and willing to treat Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The list
of providers is listed below.
If homeowners determine they would like to treat an ash tree
located on the city owned right-of-way adjacent to their property, a permit is
required from the City’s Street Division.
Visit the Iowa Department of Natural Resources website for
detailed information about the Emerald Ash Borer.
