Lecture: Wright’s Quest for an American Architecture – Stockman House Architectural Interpretive Center, 520 1st St. NE, Mason City (641-423-1923) Mr. Brashear founded a lecture series on architectural topics while doing graduate work at Columbia University.  He co-teaches at the College of William and Mary in Virginia and currently serves as interim director of the Muscarelle Museum of Art. Center Space Gallery – Charles H. MacNider Art Museum, 303 2nd St SE, Mason City (641-421-3666)

The New to the Collection exhibition features the newest additions to the Museum’s Permanent Collection.  The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s collection of American artworks grows each year through donations, bequests, and designated monetary gifts.  New to the Collection highlights additions to the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s Permanent Collection from the past five years.  These recent acquisitions include a winter scene painted by Ann Mary “Grandma” Moses, a Native Inuit Basket, a colorful print by Jim Dine and other amazing new artworks.  Museum hours: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday & Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. The MacNider Art Museum is free and open to the public. http://macniderart.org/

Event time:  10am - 2pm. Family friendly dog themed activities a photo booth, face painting, and a chance to talk with a groomer or vet about any questions you may have. There will also be treats for humans and canines alike on site during the event and a silent auction with a variety of dog goods throughout the day.  The $5 admission fee will go to support the various programs that The Salvation Army provides throughout the year for children, adults, and families in need. Mason City Motor Speedway - North Iowa Events Center, 3700 4th ST SW, Mason City (641-424-6515) American Racer USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks will be in action on the new 3/8-mile racing surface. USRA Tuners or Outlaw Mini-Mods will also be on the card. The pit gate will open Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with grandstands opening at 2p.m., hot laps at 3:30 p.m. and racing getting underway at 4 p.m.  Spectator tickets are $15 for adults or $10 for juniors (12-16) and seniors (62+). Kids ages 6-11 are just $5. Pit passes will be $35.  There will be no concessions or beer available at the track.
